Who is…
Berodach-Baladan
This is the name of the king of Babylon who sent a friendly delegation to King Hezekiah, ruler of the Kingdom of Judah.
At that time Berodach-baladan a son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick. —2 Kings 20:12
As a result, Hezekiah made the huge and prideful misjudgment of showing the delegation “all his treasure house, the silver and the gold and the spices and the good oil and the house of his armor and all that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his house nor in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them” (2 Kings 20:13-19). This eventually resulted in the sacking of Judah.
In Isaiah 39:1, Berodach-Baladan is called Merodach-Baladan.
