TIPS for effective searches

A "Match: Boolean Phrase" search allows you to use "AND", "OR", "NOT" and "( )" commands in your search phrase.

EXAMPLES OF BOOLEAN SEARCHES	RESULT
jesus AND christ	Finds only pages that contain both the word "jesus" and the word "christ".
jesus OR christ	Finds pages containing either the word "jesus" or the word "christ". The found documents could contain both, but do not have to.
christ AND NOT jesus	Finds only those pages containing "christ" but not containing "jesus".
jesus AND (peter or john)	a nested boolean search - This will give you all the pages that contain the name "Jesus" which also contain either "Peter" or "John", but not necessarily both. A longer example: jesus AND christ AND (disciple OR apostle OR follower)

Don’t worry about whether a word is capitalized or not.
Be sure to search in the appropriate section of our site. Try setting your search to “Within: Entire site…”
If you are searching on more than one word and not finding what you are looking for, try "Match: Any of the words". Also, try using more words of a similar nature.
Be careful to spell the word correctly. For English words, most of our site uses the American spelling. For non-English words, remember, spellings and accent marks may vary between nation and region. Try alternate spellings and different accenting and no accenting. Please understand, that some complex languages and character sets such as Chinese and Japanese are much more difficult to search, and are not currently supported by our search engine.)
