In John 14:6, Jesus Christ said to his disciple Thomas: “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
As a result, early Christians often called themselves followers of The Way. Acts 16:17: “…show unto us the way of salvation.” Acts 18:25-26—“This man was instructed in the way of the Lord… and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.”
The apostle Paul said to the governor:
“But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets” (Acts 24:14, NKJV).
