Who is…
Saph
also known as: Sippai
Hebrew: סַף —transliteration: Saph —meaning: extension, to attach, join, gather
This is a giant son of giants whom David’s hero Sibbecai slew. He is also called Sippai in the parallel record of 1 Chronicles 20:4.
Saph was a Philistine giant, descendant of Rapha (Rephaim lineage). He was slain by Sibbecai the Hushathite in battle at Gob (2 Samuel 21:18).
No other details are known about Saph. Some speculate (unproven) that he was Goliath’s son.
