Meaning: “Baalath” is the female form of “Baal.”

This was a pagan Canaanite town that became the property of the Tribe of Dan in the Promised Land (Joshua 19:44).

Dan is shaded in DARK GREEN, but does not include the city of Dan which was far to the north.

Many years later, when King Solomon rebuilt and fortified the city of Gezer, he also built or rebuilt two other cities not far from it: Beth-horon and Baalath (1 Kings 9:15-18). So Baalath became a fortified city used in his kingdom (1 Kings 9:18; 2 Chronicles 8:6).

Some have identified Baalath with modern Dayr Balut, Israel.
