“Whatever Happened to America?” was originally produced by the Southern Baptists under a different title and packaging. It was acquired by Films for Christ in the mid 1990s because of the high production value and quality material this series presents.

Host John Schneider Hosted by John Schneider (of “Dukes of Hazzard” fame, now a Christian), this series breaks into three 30-minute segment:

  1. A CRISIS OF CHARACTER: The Keys to Imparting Values
  2. WHO IS KING OF HOLLYWOOD?: Changing the Values of the Values-Changers
  3. GROWING AGAINST THE GRAIN: How to Have a Great Family in the Digital Age
This series is best used in a group setting where parents can discuss the issues raised and even ideas used by concerned parents in controlling the media influence in their own families. The men featured in this series are well aware of the negative ideas that the media often promotes. They have great insight and present some challenges that many Christian parents would do well to take to heart and practice in their own families.

…This video’s production values resemble those of the best network news magazines. …ideal for teen and adult classes as well as church libraries. …A commendable attempt to address the problems facing American society and offers ideas for imparting lofty values to the younger generation. The film boldly asserts that government programs are not the answer to crime, violence, and teen pregnancy. “We need to concentrate on our own life and our own families.” …Host John Schneider assures viewers that family values can be restored one person (and one family) at a time.
