In John 14:6, Jesus Christ said to his disciple Thomas,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” —see John 14:1-11 NASB
As a result, early Christians often called themselves followers of The Way.
“…show unto us the way of salvation.” —Acts 16:17 KJV
“This man was instructed in the way of the Lord… and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” —Acts 18:25-26 KJV
The apostle Paul said to the governor:
“But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets” —Acts 24:14 NKJV
