Pathros

also known as Pathrôs

Hebrew: פַתְרֻסִי or פַּתְרוֹס‎

This is the homeland of the Pathrusim (Genesis 10:14; 1 Chronicles 1:12) (aka Pathru′sim or Pathrus or Pathrusites)—descendants of Mizraim, a son of Ham.

Pathros is generally identified as the southernmost part of Upper Egypt (the Thebaid or Thebais of the Greeks) south of Memphis, as distinguished from Lower Egypt.

Pathros is mentioned in the following 5 verses: Isaiah 11:11; Jeremiah 44:1 and 15; Ezekiel 29:14; 30:14

After the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, colonies of Jews settled “in the country of Pathros” and other parts of Egypt.
