Ahimaaz, a priest
He is the son and successor of Zadok in the office of high priest (1 Chronicles 6:8, 53).
When Absalom revolted, he remained faithful to David, and was of service to him keeping him informed on Absalom’s activities in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 15:24-37; 17:15-21).
He was a fast runner, and was the first to carry to David the news of the defeat of Absalom, although, for emotional reasons, he refrained from telling him of his death (2 Samuel 18:19-33).
Under King Solomon (circa 970–930 BC), Ahimaaz's father Zadok became high priest. When Zadok died, Ahimaaz succeeded him in that position (1 Chronicles 6:8, 53).
