Meaning: fugitive

Agee was the name of the father of Shammah, who was one of David’s most elite mighty men (2 Samuel 23:11).

Agee is called a Hararite, which means “mountaineer” or “mountain dweller” (from the Hebrew word har, mountain). It refers to someone from the hill country (likely Judah). This term is used in Scripture for David's mighty man Shammah son of Agee, and others like Ahiam son of Sharar/Sacar (2 Sam 23:33; 1 Chron 11:35).
